Research Abstract

社会的欲求の脳内機構を解明するためには、非社会的欲求の脳内機構との比較が必須である。外発的な金銭報酬が内発的動機を低下させる際、前頭前野と線条体とを含む皮質-基底核ループが重要な役割を果たしていることを昨年度明らかにしたことを受けて、今年度は社会的文脈の違いが、内発的動機にどのように影響するかを調べるため、競争群と非競争群との間で、動機づけに関わる前頭葉や線条体の脳活動がどのように異なるかを検討した。大学生男女43名の実験参加者を、非競争群(N=15)、競争群(N=14)、コントロール群(N=14)の3群に分け、内発的動機の神経基盤を調べるのに適していることが昨年度明らかになったストップウォッチ課題を2セッションずつ行って貰い、その際の脳活動をfMRIにより計測した。
質問紙による内発的動機づけのスコアは、非競争群、競争群共にコントロール群よりも有意に高かったが、競争群のみにおいて、内発的動機づけスコアと有能感との間に有意な正の相関が見られ、他の2群においては、そのような有意な相関は見られなかった。腹側淡蒼球/腹側線条体における成功vs.失敗の脳活動コントラストは、内発的動機づけスコアと同様に、有能感の行動指標との間に有意な正の相関が競争群のみにおいて見られた。また、前頭前野外側部におけるストップウォッチ課題vs.コントロール課題の脳活動コントラストも、内発的動機づけスコアと同様に、有能感の行動指標との間に有意な正の相関が競争群のみにおいて見られた。
これらの結果は、昨年度までの研究成果と併せて考えると、前頭前野と線条体とを含む皮質-基底核ループが、内発的動機づけの、社会的な文脈による変容にも関与していることを示唆している。
