Outline of Research at the Start

石製装身具は、旧石器時代や縄文時代にかけてのユーラシア大陸を含めた文化の系統関係や象徴的コミュニケーションの解明に重要な手がかりを与えてくれる。本研究では、北海道内で発見されている石製装身具に関して、化学組成分析によって産地の推定をおこなう。また製作の際の詳細な動作や利用道具に関しても、実験的手法によって、微細な痕跡の観察と分析から製作と使用の経過を復元し、その時系列での比較をおこなう。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

第一に、北海道内の旧石器時代遺跡から得られている玉類の岩石種を同定するために、産地を推定するための化学組成分析を、研究協力者の岡村聡と立田理の協力のもと、携帯型蛍光X線分析装置を利用して実施した。岩石種の同定ならびに産地を推定するのにあたって、有効な測定結果が得られた。第二に、玉類に利用されている岩石種の産地を推定するために、日高山地域を中心にして地質学的状況を精査し、平取町内での石材の分布調査を実施した。それによって玉類に利用されていたと想定される石材の分布ならびに産状について重要な知見を得ることが出来た。採集したサンプルについては、考古資料と同様に蛍光X線分析装置による化学組成分析を実施し、鉱物学的記載ならびに化学組成のデータを得ることができた。これらの成果を考古資料の分析結果と突き合わせ、旧石器時代の玉類がどのような石材を使用しており、それがどのような地域から入手したものであるのかに関する知見を得ることができた。分析結果と考察については、今後、論文にまとめ発表する予定である。第三に、玉類の製作に利用されていた石器を特定するために、千歳市内の複数の旧石器時代遺跡から得られた石器資料を対象とした使用痕分析を、研究協力者の薮下詩乃の協力のもとに実施した。錐形石器の使用法について新たな知見を得ることができた。成果については、今後、論文として取りまとめる予定である。第四に、玉類の新資料獲得を目指し、蘭越町立川1遺跡の発掘調査を実施した。新資料の発見にはいたらなかったが、玉類を利用していた蘭越技法の時期の人間行動の詳細について新知見を得た。第五に、旧石器時代の玉類製作にどのような石器が利用されていたのかを明らかにするため、ヨーロッパでの研究現状の把握と実資料との比較を試みた。実資料の検討では、パリの人類博物館における上部旧石器時代のコレクションの分析を実施した。
