Outline of Research at the Start

自発的な回転対称性の破れにより発現する電子液晶相は、磁性・誘電性・超伝導といった多彩な物性の発現や機能に大きく影響を与える。本研究では、従来の自発的な回転対称性の破れに加えて、時間・空間反転、ゲージ、鏡映対称性といった様々な対称性の破れが生じた際に現れる量子伝導現象やマルチフェロイクス応答現象に関する理論形式を構築することである。これを達成することにより、電子液晶相が示す新しい機能物性を開拓する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

固体中での電子のミクロな自由度を表現する多極子は、多彩な電子秩序相や物性現象を理解する上での基礎的枠組みを与える。本研究の目的は、こうした多極子自由度の概念を電子液晶に拡張し、さらに電子対自由度を表現論に組み込むことで、時間・空間反転およびゲージ対称性の破れた電荷・スピン・電子対液晶相の理論形式をミクロな多極子の立場から構築することである。 本年度は、鏡映対称性の破れた系において発現する電子秩序相であるフェロアキシャル秩序相に対する解析を重点的に行った。フェロアキシャル秩序相の秩序変数は時間反転偶でランク1の軸性ベクトルである電気トロイダル双極子自由度に相当しており、回転および鏡映操作に関するパリティが従来の電子液晶相のものと異なるため、それに起因した物性現象が期待される。その中でもフェロアキシャル秩序下における非線形磁気歪み応答のミクロな機構に関する理論模型の解析を行った。その結果、電気トロイダル双極子モーメントの活性に伴って、磁場の2次に比例する特異な歪み応答が現れることを明らかにした。これらの解析は、あらゆるフェロアキシャル物質の検出に使用できることから、広い物質群に対するさらなる展開が期待される。その他にも、(1) ジグザグ鎖構造のもとで誘起される一様および交替的なフェロアキシャルモーメントの理論、(2) フェロアキシャル秩序系における非従来型ホール効果と磁気抵抗効果の解析、(3) 三角格子上における多重Q双極子-四極子秩序の解析、(4) ジャロシンスキー・守谷相互作用のない磁性体における3副格子磁気スキルミオン結晶相の発現に関する理論提案、(5) 円偏光電場照射により誘起されるスカラースピンカイラリティを伴う磁性体の発現に関する理論提案、 (6) フロッケ理論に基づいた光誘起カイラリティおよび磁気トロイダルモーメントの理論に関する論文出版を行った。
