Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、分子レベルでの水との相互作用を制御・議論が可能な、イオン性ラダーポリマーを開発し、その水圏機能の開拓・理解を深める。具体的には、研究項目1として、ラダーポリマーを主鎖に持ち、イオン性置換基の主鎖に対する配向や相対的位置が厳密に制御されたイオン性ラダーポリマーを開発し、水圏機能の探索を行う。それに加え、研究項目2として、剛直な折れ曲がり構造を持つラダーポリマーであるミクロ多孔性ラダーポリマーに、イオン性置換基を導入したイオン性ラダーポリマーを合成し、イオン伝導特性などの機能開拓を行う。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

イオン性置換基を持つ高分子は、特異な水との相互作用により多様な物性を発現するが、この主鎖を、二本以上の化学結合で結合されたポリマーであるラダーポリマーにしてみるとどうだろうか?主鎖に沿った自由回転が不可能なラダーポリマーでは導入されたイオン性官能基の配向や相対位置を制御することが可能であり、従来のイオン性高分子とは全く異なる「水」との相互作用を示す可能性があると考え、本研究提案に至った。主鎖がランダムかつ剛直に折れ曲がった構造を持つラダーポリマーは、固体状態で間隙を埋めることができず、粉末および薄膜状態でnmサイズのミクロ多孔性を示すことから、Polymers of Intrinsic Microporosity (PIMs)と呼ばれ、ガス分離膜などの応用が期待されている。当該年度は、イオン性官能基を導入し、親水化したPIMs中で、ナノ空間に束縛された水の挙動の調査を行うべく、イオン性/非イオン性PIMと、参照用の非ラダーポリマーを合成し、調湿条件でのDSC測定や放射光IR測定を行なった。調湿条件でのDSC測定の結果、6種類のポリマーのうち、ジアザシクロオクタン骨格を有するラダーポリマーのみから、界面水に由来すると見られる発熱及び吸熱が-20°C程度に観測された。最近、Liらが類似のDACO構造を有する多孔性ポリマー膜が優れたantifouling特性を有することを報告しているが、これは界面水の発生に起因している可能性を示唆している。また、類似の化学構造を有するDACO含有非ラダー構造のpoly-2cからは界面水由来の吸発熱は観測されなかったことから、界面水の発現は特定の化学構造だけでなく、ポリマーのラダー骨格も界面水の発現に寄与していると考えられ、新たな水圏機能性ラダーポリマーの設計指針を示していると考えられ、本研究での目標を達成できたと考えている。
