Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では,炭素材料に機能性分子を化学的に結合し,原子・分子レベルで構造を制御した炭素材料を創出することにより,特定の分子やイオンと選択的に相互作用する水圏材料の創出を目指す。炭素は,0次元(フラーレン),1次元(カーボンナノチューブ),2次元(グラフェン),3次元(ダイヤモンド,多孔質炭素,黒鉛,等),不定形炭素といった多数の同素体がある。これらのナノ炭素材料に機能性高分子や無機ナノ材料を複合化し,かび臭原因物質・重金属・生体分子等と強く相互作用または除去できる水圏機能材料に最適な構造を明らかにする。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

炭素材料を水圏機能材料として応用すべく水との相互作用を高めるためには,親水性官能基を付与する必要がある。本研究では,申請者が得意とする酸化反応により,酸素官能基を炭素材料に導入した。黒鉛やナノダイヤの酸化条件(酸化剤の種類や加え方)を変えることにより,酸素含有量を0~50%の範囲で制御する手法を開発した。この手法に基づき,0次元~3次元の多様な炭素材料の酸素官能基を制御し,カルボキシ基を豊富に含むものやヒドロキシ基・エポキシ基を豊富に含むものを作り分けた。また,これら酸素官能基を足掛かりとして,機能性分子を炭素材料上に導入した。炭素上での高効率有機合成を検討した結果,強固なC-N結合を形成するためには,炭素材料上のエポキシ基への求核的アミノ化反応が最適であることが分かった。合成した機能化炭素材料を用いて,水中に含まれる重金属・生体分子等との相互作用または除去率を評価した。また,計画研究および公募研究の複数の研究者と共同研究を行い,樹脂複合材の開発やグルコースセンサーの開発に貢献し,共著論文を執筆した。
