Outline of Research at the Start

聴覚入力の限られた難聴児では,幼児期において心の理論の発達や言語発達が遅滞したり,学童期には学習言語(文法,論理的思考など)の習得すなわち高次認知機能の発達に困難をきたす場合があることが知られている。本研究ではこの点に関与する目的に述べる2つの仮説を近赤外分光法(fNIRS)と実験心理学的な行動実験で検証することで,なぜ難聴児のコミュニケーションの発達が多数派と異なるかの原因を脳機能レベル,行動レベルで解明することを目的としている。そのうえで,どのような代替刺激が高次認知機能の発達の補助になるかを明らかにし,効果的な応用につなげる。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は聴覚に障害のある少数派乳幼児のコミュニケーション発達の特性について多数派との認知的、知覚的なズレを解明し、その知見を多数派との相互作用の中で活用しコミュニケーション発達を育むことで当事者化を推進することを目指す。具体的には、以下2つの仮説(1)難聴児と大人のコミュニケーションにおいて社会的随伴性が聴覚情報の弱さにより充分機能していないために効果的に社会的信号を得られない、その結果心の理論や言語発達が遅れる、(2)音声刺激の貧困性が難聴児の作業記憶発達、さらには高次脳機能発達を阻んでいる、について近赤外分光法(fNIRS)と実験心理学的手法による2つの実験で検証することを目指している。
(2)については乳児とその母親の計31組を対象とした縦断研究実験について仮説が概ね支持されたことを報告したので、ここでは(1)の社会的随伴性についてのfNIRS実験結果について報告する。実験者が難聴児(および統制群の定型児)と社会的随伴性の有無の異なる2つの条件で遊んでいる場面での、随伴性に対する子どもの脳活動および、脳機能結合を計測した。実験では乳児が遊び場面でアイコンタクトや指差し、微笑みなどの社会的信号を実験者に向けた時に実験者は発声応答、微笑みなどで子どもに随伴的反応を与えた場合を随伴性条件とし、同じ反応を2秒遅れで行った条件を随伴性なし条件とした。6-7ヶ月齢時点での難聴児計測を行い、同月齢の定型発達児乳児と比較した。結果としては、難聴児も定型発達児と同様に社会的随伴性に対して統制条件よりも右の側頭頭頂接合部(TPJ)にて強い反応が得られ、社会的随伴性について良好な発達が示された。ただし、今回は難聴の程度をこの月齢では充分に統制できず個人差も大きく見られた。今後は参加児を追加し難聴の程度を考慮した解析を行う必要がある。
