Outline of Research at the Start

2016年にアメリカのLIGO実験チームにより、重力波の初検出が報告されました。約13億光年先の太陽の約30倍の重さを持つ双子のブラックホールの衝突によりつくられた重力波でした。その重いブラックホールは宇宙の誕生時のインフレーションが起源となりつくられた原始ブラックホールである可能性があります。また、原始ブラックホールの中にはもっと軽いものがあり、ホーキング輻射を出して量子力学的に蒸発してしまう可能性すらあります。次世代のガンマ線観測などで、ホーキング輻射を観測することにより、ダークマターとしての原始ブラックホールの正体が明らかになるかもしれません。そうした理論準備を進める必要があります。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度はまとめの年として初期宇宙における原始ブラックホール形成がナノヘルツ帯における背景重力波を生む誘導重力波の機構についての最新の理論を発表した。その内容は次のようなものです。2023年6月末に北アメリカナノヘルツ重力波天文台(NANOGrav)により宇宙初期から存在する背景重力波を観測したというニュースが報じられた。複数のパルサーが周期的に出す電波のシグナルの相関を15年間観測したところ、ナノヘルツ帯の電波に背景重力波特有のシグナルを観測したというものでした。もし背景重力波が存在するとすると正確なパルサーの電波の周期を変更するため重力波のシグナルとして観測されます。この背景重力波は各々の銀河の中心にあるという超巨大ブラックホールの衝突でも生じることが知られていますが今回のシグナルはスペクトルの形が有意に異なります。これはインフレーションが直接つくる大きなスケールの重力波に比べて約1千万倍以上も大きいものです。しかし、もしインフレーションが作る小スケールの密度ゆらぎが大きい場合、密度ゆらぎの非線形の2次的効果により大きな重力波が作られる効果があることが知られています。これが誘導重力波です。我々はこの誘導重力波が観測されるシグナルをぴったり一致することを指摘しました。さらに、その密度ゆらぎが潰れて太陽より軽い原始ブラックホールを生成することが理論的に予想されます。その存在量はダークマターの総量の約1%にも及びます。その軽い原始ブラックホールの連星の衝突時に発する背景重力波を将来計画である欧州のアインシュタイン テレスコープ(ET)や、米国のコズミック エクスプローラー(CE)が見つける可能性があります。そうした将来の重力波実験によりインフラトン場の量子性の検証と原始ブラックホールの発見が期待されます。このことを指摘する査読付き論文を出版することができました。
