Outline of Research at the Start

付加製造(Additive Manufacturing: AM)の一種であるレーザ指向性エネルギー堆積法(Laser Directed Energy Deposition: LDED)によって,タングステンカーバイド(WC)とコバルト(Co)ボンド相からなる,WC-Co超硬合金中のCoボンド相をハイエントロピー合金(High Entropy Alloy: HEA)に代替したWC-HEA超硬合金を超温度場条件で材料開発する.セラミックスと金属からなるWC-HEA超硬合金の新規材料開発を通じて有用な材料を探索しながら,超温度場材料創製学の研究領域に新しい知見を見出すことを目指す.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

WC-Co超硬合金の機械的性質の向上を目的として,ハイエントロピー合金(HEA)を代替バインダーとして使用したWC-HEA超硬合金の材料開発を実施した.実験ではCrMnFeCoNi HEA粉末をバインダーとして使用し,マルチビームレーザ型指向性エネルギー堆積法(L-DED)によってWC-HEA超硬合金を造形した.WC-Co超硬合金粉末も比較のために使用した.造形試料は,主にWC,M2C,M6Cの3 種類の炭化物と2 相に分離したW含有量の異なるHEA相で構成されていることが明らかにされた.エネルギー分散型X線分光法(EDS)分析により,形成されたM2C,M6C炭化物とHEA相はW,Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni の元素を含有していることが示された.WC-Co超硬合金粉末を使用した造形試料(硬度約800 HV)と比較して,100-250 Wのレーザ出力で加工したWC-HEA超硬合金造形試料では200 HV以上の高い硬度(硬度約1000 HV)を示した.これらの結果は,レーザ照射後に WC-Co 超硬合金では M6Cが形成されるのに対して,WC-HEA超硬合金ではM2Cが形成されることによるものであると考えられる.また,HEA相へのW元素の固溶による硬化の影響もあると考えられる.300 Wでは,WC-Co超硬合金造形試料においてもM2Cが形成されたため,WC-HEA超硬合金造形試料の硬度に近い値が得られた.
