Outline of Research at the Start

グラフェンなどの系の厚さが一原子層である二次元物質は、光・電子機能を有するフレキシブルデバイスへの応用が期待されている。さらに、積層数や積層回転角の違いによって、超伝導や相関絶縁体など様々な電子物性が発現する。本研究では、二次元物質を人工積層した系である2.5次元物質に着目し、電磁場によるスピン流の駆動など、2.5次元物質を基盤とした新しい光・スピントロニクスデバイスの理論設計を行う。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究課題では、2次元および2.5次元物質における電子波動関数のトポロジカル特性を系統的に解析することで、電子物性の基礎学理を構築に貢献するとともに、エネルギーハーベスティングデバイスなど新しい光・電子デバイス設計のアイデアを提示することを目的とする。さらに、2.5次元物質における光学的な電子スピン励起過程に理論的に解析することで、スピン流の生成を制御し、エネルギー効率性の高い光・電子デバイスを設計することにある。
2023年度は、最近合成が報告された二次元炭素材料であるビフェニレンネットワーク(BPN)に着目し、その電子状態とトポロジカル特性を解析し、さらにフォトニック結晶への応用展開の可能性を探求した。BPNは、グラフェンと同じく炭素原子のみからなる二次元物質であり、四員環、六員環、八員環を含むユニークな結晶構造を持つ。そのため、ハニカム構造のグラフェンとは結合のトポロジーが異なる。我々は、BPNの結晶構造に基づく強束縛模型を用いて、電子状態およびザック位相を数値解析した。さらに、エッジ状態をもつ端構造を組み合わせて、「エッジのエッジ」として出現するコーナー状態の出現条件を解明した。
この他にも、遷移金属モノカルコゲナイド系に対する非線形光学応答効果に関する数値解析なども行った。また、領域メンバーとの共同研究を実施し、二階建てHexNetにおける電子状態解析などを行った。さらに、二次元配位ナノシートの電子状態解析と歪み効果に関する研究、およびスケーリング関数による最大局在ワニエ関数の構築手法の開発を実施した。
