Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Ti50Ni48Fe2合金の鋳造まま試料(粗粒材:平均粒径100μm以上)と,それに冷間圧延と873 K-4 hで再結晶焼鈍処理を施し初期粒径を調整した試料(細粒材:平均粒径3μm程度)をそれぞれ準備した.これらを,液体窒素に浸漬し曲げ試験と圧縮試験に供した後,加工ひずみ除去と整粒処理のため873 K-15 minと773 K-1 hの2段階熱処理を施した.曲げ試験片の引張領域では,ε = 5%ですでに観察視野全域が微細化(平均粒径:0.95μm)するが,圧縮領域では微細化が起こり難いことが知られた.また,TEM観察より,引張領域では対応粒界が多く形成されているのに対して,ε = 8%以下の圧縮領域で観察された粒界の多くは亜粒界であった.このことは,低ひずみ加工の場合,引張領域では双晶変形,圧縮領域では転位運動が塑性変形を支配していることを示唆している.目的とする組織制御には圧縮変形よりも引張変形を利用する方が有利であるが,引張変形は試料に不均一な変形をもたらすため,バルク状の材料を均一に微細化させる事が困難である.一方,圧縮変形は試料を均一変形させる事が可能であり,工業的に有意である.前述の結果から11%程度の圧縮ひずみを加え熱処理を施した.一定方向に伸張した結晶粒が多く観察され,圧縮試験中に多くの変形双晶が導入されたことが推測された.また,それにより平均粒径は1μm程度に微細化され,Σ29以下の対応粒界頻度も60%を越えていた.しかし,変形双晶の導入頻度が低く比較的粗大な結晶粒が存在する領域も観察された.そこで,1度目の圧縮変形で形成した双晶に交差するようにして更に双晶を導入することを目的として,圧縮軸を90度回転させ2度目の圧縮試験を試みた.その結果,平均粒径は約0.8μm,対応粒界頻度は52%の粒界制御BN-TiNi合金の創製に成功した.
