架橋カーボンナノチューブにおける励起子ダイナミクス

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2012年度は引き続き表面が清浄で励起子の本来の輸送特性を示すことが期待される架橋カーボンナノチューブを用いて、その励起子拡散長の系統的な測定に取り組んだ。まず、単一のナノチューブに対して励起スペクトルを取得し、励起および発光共鳴エネルギーを計測することによりカイラリティを特定する。偏光分光により、カーボンナノチューブの方位を測定し、その架橋長さを精密に決定した上で、長さの関数として発光強度を調査する。このようにして得たデータを、シミュレーションと比較することにより拡散長を測定する。定常状態における一次元拡散方程式の解を、拡散長およびカーボンナノチューブの架橋長さの関数として数値的に解くことにより励起子密度分布を求め、架橋長さに対する発光強度を計算する。計算結果と実験データを比較し、拡散長をパラメータとしてフィッティングを行って拡散長を推定する。
このような測定を多くのカイラリティに対して行うためには、大量のデータ収集が必要となるため、数ミリメートルの測定範囲を走査できる自動ステージを導入し、レーザー波長・強度・偏光を自動制御するシステムを構築した。輝度の高いナノチューブの位置座標を記録し、励起分光とカイラリティ同定、偏光分光、蛍光画像取得、励起強度依存性の測定といった一連の計測をほぼ自動化した。これにより、100本を超えるナノチューブの計測を実現し、カイラリティによって拡散長が大きく異なることを明らかにした。

また、励起子-励起子消滅過程の影響を調査するため、様々な架橋幅のナノチューブに対して励起強度依存性のデータを収集した。シミュレーションにも励起子-励起子消滅過程の効果を導入するため、モンテカルロ計算を行い、励起強度および架橋長さに関する依存性を同時に説明するためのモデルを構築した。
