Outline of Annual Research Achievements

平成24年度には、配位したカルボキシラト基を分子内塩基とした炭素ー水素結合切断反応の機構解明と触媒反応への応用を行った。RuH2(PMe3)4と各種カルボン酸の反応をメタノール中で行う事により、カチオン性カルボキシラト錯体[Ru(O2CR)(PMe3)4][O2CR] (1)を合成・単離した。このカチオン性カルボキシラト錯体は非極性溶媒中では中性のビスカルボキシラト錯体[Ru(O2CR)2(PMe3)4] (2)に異性化し、これらのカチオン性錯体と中性錯体は平衡状態にあることが明らかとなった。錯体1もしくは2を50-70℃に加熱するとカルボキシラト基の炭素ー水素結合が切断され、ルテナラクトン 3 とカルボン酸が生成した。ルテナラクトンは、極性溶媒中ではカルボン酸との反応により錯体2を与えるため、この炭素ー水素結合の切断反応は可逆反応であることが明らかとなった。
この炭素ー水素結合の切断反応は、例えばアルカリ金属のカルボキラト塩を添加しても反応が促進されなかった。また、プロトンスポンジなどを加えても反応は加速されなかった。一方で，PMe3の添加により反応が抑制されることから、反応中にリンの解離プロセスがあることが示唆された。これらの結果および熱力学ならびに動力学的検討結果より、本反応はビスカルボキシラト錯体2から反応が進行し、１つのカルボキシラト基が分子内で炭素ー水素結合を協奏的に切断し、水素をプロトンとして受容しているものと考えられた。本反応は、外部から添加された塩基ではほとんど反応が促進されないため、カルボキシラト基が分子内塩基として有効に機能する分子内求電子置換機構であると考えられる。
また、この反応を利用して位置選択的なカルボン酸のメタノールによる触媒的重水素化反応を実現した。
