Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は 新たに導入された BlueGene/Q (3.5 rack 700 TFLOPS peak)上で、自然界のクォーク質量に等しい物理点上の アップ、ダウン、ストレンジ の軽いクォークの関わる物理量の計算を、効率良く行うための研究を行った結果、5倍から40倍もの計算効率化を果たすことが出来た。 目的とする正確な物理量(高コスト)とその近似計算(低コスト)の両方を、後者の近似計算をより頻繁(正確な計算の~100倍程度の頻度)行うことによって統計誤差を下げ、なおかつ格子理論の対称性を使うことに計算結果にバイアスを入れない All-Mode Averaging (AMA) という 方法を提案した。物理量の骨組みとなるクォークの伝搬関数を計算する際に、長距離の伝搬を支配するクォークの低エネルギーモードを固有ベクトルを求めることにより正確に扱い、短距離伝搬を担う 高エネルギーモードは多項式近似を行う。新しい計算資源である BlueGene/Q や GPU 上で、それぞれの資源の特長を生かした固有ベクトル計算を高効率で行うためのアルゴリズム implicitly restarting Lanczos with Chebyshev acceleration を開発・実装した。BlueGene/Q 上での計算コードは 理論絶対ピークの 30%の速度を超えており、この世代のメニコア環境下では満足のいく効率だと思われる。現在の方法では、より大体積の格子計算では、より大きなメモリ容量が必要 (体積の2乗に比例)であり、ドメイン分割法などの方法で必要メモリを減らすことが現在の課題であるが、これに関しても今現在進展を得つつある。
