Outline of Research at the Start

機能性酸化物の多彩な物性とイオン結合の高い結晶ひずみ許容性を生かし、”超秩序構造”として積層欠陥誘起のナノ領域での傾斜格子ひずみが創出するフレクソエレクトリック効果による電気双極子とスピン結合による新規マルチフェロ物質を創製する。スピンと双極子共存を期待するガーネット型酸化鉄薄膜を対象に、エピタキシャル成長させる基板との格子整合と薄膜臨界厚さとの相関によるナノスケールでの傾斜格子ひずみ導入により空間反転対称性の破れを実現しフォノンソフト化:双極子強結合(強誘電性)の発現と傾角スピンと中心対称の破れの相乗効果によるDM相関によりスピン・フォノン結合型マグノン誘起やマルチフェロ物性の創発を目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

スピンと双極子が共存するフェリ磁性誘電体としてガーネット型酸化鉄に着目し、希土類置換、薄膜形成時の斜格子歪導入による空間反転対称性の破れ効果により、双極子秩序(強誘電性)フォノンのソフト化の実現を目指した。
スピンと双極子が共存する物質系としてガーネット型酸化鉄(R3Fe5O12)を対象とし、a)実証済みのR=Sm以外の希土類を対象として、イオン半径およびf電子数を系統的に変化させたR=Lu-Dyを選択すると共に、b)単結晶基板として入手可能な3種のガーネット結晶と組み合わせることで、0-4%の格子ミスマッチ(不整合)により格子歪を系統的に導入し、スピン-フォノン交差相関を最大にする最適化条件を探索した。この局所的な傾斜結晶格子歪導入による空間反転対称性の破れ効果により:双極子強結合 (強誘電性)の実現と、傾角スピンと中心対称の破れの相乗効果によるDzyaloshinskii-Moriya相関によりスピン・フォノン結合型マグノン誘起が期待され、これらの結果を参考にして、ガーネット型単結晶以外の適用も可能な物質系であるスピネル型結晶やペロブスカイト型結晶、蛍石型結晶等の磁気誘電体材料へも拡張した。
さらに、磁性-非磁性イオン配置の超秩序系としてスピングラス材料についても研究対象を拡張し、ガーネット型酸化において室温でスピングラス(クラスターグラス)状態を発現する物質の合成に成功した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

ガーネット型酸化鉄(R3Fe5O12)を対象とし、a)報告済みのR=Sm以外の希土類を対象として、イオン半径およびf電子数を系統的に変化させたR= Lu、Ho、Y等を選択すると共に、b)単結晶基板として入手可能な3種のガーネット結晶と組み合わせることで、-2%から+2%の格子ミスマッチ(不整合)により格子歪を系統的に導入し、スピン-フォノン交差相関を最大にする最適化条件を探索する。この局所的な傾斜結晶格子歪導入による空間反転対称性の破れ効果により:双極子強結合 (強誘電性)の実現と、傾角スピンと中心対称の破れの相乗効果によるDzyaloshinskii-Moriya相関によりスピン・フォノン結合型マグノン誘起が期待される。これらの結果を参考にして、ガーネット型単結晶以外の適用も可能な物質系であるスピネル型結晶やペロブスカイト型結晶、蛍石型結晶等の磁気誘電体材料へも拡張していく。
さらに、磁性-非磁性イオン配置の超秩序系と、ランダムネスとフラストレーションを制御することで創発するスピングラス物性に関して、ガーネット型酸化鉄に加えて、スピネル型酸化鉄に対象を拡張して室温スピングラス(クラスターグラス)状態を発現する物質の合成に挑戦する。
