Research Abstract

種々の新規カイラル磁性体の発見、水溶性無機化合物の新規不斉合成手法の開発など、結晶構造のカイラリティ制御に関する数々の問題点を解決してきた。また、結晶と磁気構造のカイラリティ結合の研究を含め、以下に研究成果をまとめる。
(a) カイラル磁性体TSi (T = 遷移金属) のカイラル磁気構造の観測
カイラルな結晶構造を有するMnSiにおいて、磁場中偏極中性子回折測定を実施し、本物質がカイラル磁気ソリトン格子を形成することを発見した。さらにMnSiと同じカイラル名結晶構造を有するCrSiはこれまで常磁性体と考えられてきたが、試料の純良かを推し進めることで20K以下の低温に置いて弱強磁性を示すことを、磁化測定及びミュオン測定によって観測した。
(b) カイラル磁性体CsCuCl3の結晶と磁性のカイラリティ結合の検証
カイラルな結晶構造を有するCsCuCl3は単結晶試料内に右と左手系の結晶が混在することが問題となっていた。これを撹拌法を用いることにより単一のカイラリティドメインを有する単結晶試料の育成が可能となった。得られた試料についてミュオン測定を実施し、本物質の結晶構造と磁気構造のカイラリティが結合していることを示す実験結果が得られた。
