変温動物の冬眠(brumation)は、恒温動物の冬眠(hibernation)とは明確に区別されているが、実際のところ両者で何が異なっているのかは定かではない。本研究は、睡眠や覚醒のように冬眠を神経活動を基に定義し、恒温動物・変温動物間の共通点と相違点を明確にすることを目指す。
