Outline of Annual Research Achievements

当初の計画通り、東京大学木曽観測所の1mシュミット望遠鏡と広視野カメラKWFC (Kiso Wide Field Camera)を用いて、高頻度の突発天体サーベイをKiso Supernova Survey (KISS)を推進した。平成25年度から本格的な遠隔・自動観測の整備を始め、平成26年度後半の観測からは完全に自動でサーベイが実行された。平成26年度は約100晩の観測の結果、37天体の超新星爆発候補天体を発見し、そのうち9天体の分光同定に成功した。フォローアップ分光に成功した天体数は平成25年度に比べて2倍程度増加している。サーベイの戦略と、約２年間の初期成果をまとめた論文をPublication of Astronomical Society of Japanに投稿し、出版した。
また、高頻度の反復観測によって、特異な活動銀河核の短時間(~1日)変動を捉えた。すばる望遠鏡、国内の中小口径望遠鏡、さらにSwift衛星により追観測を行った結果、この天体が(1) 比較的軽いブラックホール質量(1E7太陽質量)をもつこと、(2)非常にradio loudであり(radio loudness parameter ~ 400-3000)、100kpcもの広がった電波の構造をもっていること、(3) Eddington光度に近いフラックスをもつことが分かった。これらの特徴から、この天体が急速に成長している途中のブラックホールをもち、かつ可視光の変動はジェットからの放射が原因であると解釈した。超新星の最初の瞬間（ショックブレイクアウト）を狙うサーベイ本来のターゲットではないものの、ユニークな高頻度の反復観測によって、新しい種類の現象が捉えられた例となった。この成果をまとめた論文をAstrophysical Journal Lettersに投稿し、出版した。
