Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究課題では、コンピュータシミュレーションによる物質の設計・解析において現れる大規模な固有値問題を対象として、これらの分野において高性能化や安定化のニーズの強い各種の問題の高性能な数値計算手法の開発を行うことを目的とする。計算量子科学分野で現れる各種の問題に対して、(1) 階層型固有値解法によるバンド構造計算法の高性能化と非直交基底への拡張、(2) 確率的推定法を利用した状態密度計算法の開発、(3) アプリケーションに組み込むことを想定したソフトウェアの実装、(4) 実問題を対象とした性能評価と実験・理論からのフィードバックによる計算手法の改善を実施する。
平成26年度は、任意の領域内の固有対のみを選択的に求められる周回積分を用いた固有値解法の特徴を活かし、下層部分の線形方程式解法を対象とする問題ごとに合わせ、実用性を高めた。とくにオーダーN法第一原理計算プログラムCONQUESTを対象として、single zeta基底による系に対して、疎行列直接解法と実積分点を用いる方法を開発した。これにより、SiGe hut cluster の200,000原子系に対して、HOMO-LUMO近傍の223固有対を求めることが可能となった。また、筑波大学のクラスタであるCOMA上において、256ノードまでを用いてスケーラビリティの評価を行い、高い性能が得られることを確認した。確率的固有値分布推定法については、bilinear形式による計算の効率化を行い、実空間密度汎関数法RSDFTにおいて、シリコンナノワーヤー107,292原子系に対して最小固有値からHOMO近傍までの固有値分布計算計算を達成した。
