Outline of Annual Research Achievements

アルゴリズム設計・解析や計算複雑さの分野で近年急速な進展を見せるパラメータ化計算の枠組みのもとで，計算複雑さの上下界を明らかにする固定パラメータアルゴリズムやパラメータ化計算複雑さ理論を対象とする．これは，多項式時間アルゴリズムを持ちそうにないNP完全な問題の複雑さは必ずしも一様ではなく，その中に細分化された複雑さの階層を見出そうとするものである．とくに過去の研究でも扱った離散最適化問題を対象に含め，パラメータ化計算や厳密計算の視点から再検討を行い，高速厳密アルゴリズムを設計することを目的とする．これにより，計算複雑さを分離する状況証拠を積み重ね困難さの原因に対する知見を獲得し, ひいてはP=NP?問題の解決への側面からの貢献を目指す．

計画2年目は, 初年度で取り上げる個別の問題に対する固定パラメータアルゴリズム設計のアプローチを継続しつつ, それらに共通する設計技法などを探求する.このとき, グラフの構造を測るパラメータに, たとえば木幅, 路幅, クリーク幅などの幅という概念がある. この重要な概念と整備されたパラメータ化計算の枠組みが結びつき, 多大な成果とともに, 多くの未解決問題も生んでいる.本申請研究では, このようなパラメータを利用して未解決のグラフクラスに対する固定パラメータアルゴリズムの設計を目指すと同時に, さまざまな幅の概念そのものの研究も行い, その解明に役立つ新しい幅の概念の提唱, 比較検討などを行っている．

二年間を総合して，計画したグラフ描画やハミルトン性，また彩色問題とも関連する支配点集合問題などに対して，さまざまなパラメータに関する固定パラメータ容易アルゴリズムを考案・設計することができた．この際，木幅やクリーク幅に関する考察を深めることができた．また計画した以外にも，folding に関する問題に対してもパラメータ化計算複雑さを考察するなどした．
