Outline of Annual Research Achievements

ドナー-アクセプター型の有機薄膜太陽電池は、大面積、軽量、フレキシブルの次世代太陽電池として注目されている。しかしながら、変換効率において、Si太陽電池などに比べてまだまだ劣っており、さらなる効率改善において革新的な技術の導入が不可欠である。そこで本研究では、これまでの研究成果に基づいて、無機ナノ粒子・構造・分子との融合による、新しい有機薄膜太陽電池の開拓を進めてきた。まず、融合材料系の基盤となる液晶性高移動度材料の構造と伝導機構の解明を行った。その結果、分子のπ共役面(コア面)がカラム軸に対して傾いているにもかかわらず、カラムの二次元配置はhexagonalとなることが明らかとなった。ただし、同一コア骨格の分子においても配向状態はアルキル鎖長や置換基種、中心金属種に依存することを明らかにした。次に、感度波長拡大を目指して、半導体ナノ微粒子との融合を目指すが、その前段階として、吸収波長がフタロシアニンと相補関係にある高分子有機半導体を含む三種ブレンド・バルクヘテロ接合素子を検討し、キャリア取出しにおいて半導体ナノ微粒子が適度の凝集状態をとりキャリアパスを形成する必要があることを確認した。また、開放電圧の低下を抑えるために、採用する高分子半導体材料のLUMOを調整することにより、一方、エネルギー変換効率の飛躍的な改善には、これまでにない全く新しい概念のアプローチが必要である。その中で、フォトニックナノ構造を活用した吸収増大や励起子解離確立の改善等が考えられる。我々は、そのようなフォトニックナノ構造を自己組織的に形成するコレステリックブルー相液晶の検討を行ってきた。特に、コレステリックブルー相液晶の欠陥部分に金属ナノ微粒子を導入して、液晶と金属との融合による機能強化を検討した。
