Outline of Annual Research Achievements

(1) かさ高いチオラート配位子を持つFe-Ni錯体の二電子還元
昨年度の本研究では[NiFe]ヒドロゲナーゼ活性中心モデルとなる、かさ高いチオラート配位子(SDmp)を持つFe-Ni二核錯体を合成した。この錯体が熱的に不安定であることに留意し、錯体の安定化を目指して少量のCOと補助配位子としてテトラメチルチオ尿素(tmtu)を加えた。その結果、予想に反してモデル錯体の二電子還元反応が進行することを見出した。この反応では、Fe-Ni間を架橋していたStBu配位子の一つとニッケルに配位していたSDmp配位子を失い、また生成した還元型Fe-Ni錯体のニッケルにはtmtuとCOが配位している。生成物の分子構造を確認したところ、鉄やニッケルの配位構造、硫黄原子のレイアウト、ならびにニッケルに配位したCOの配置が、CO阻害型の活性部位構造に類似していることが分かった。ただし、本研究でえられたFe-Ni錯体の金属間距離は、タンパクの結晶構造で見られるFe-Ni距離より短いことから、両者で酸化状態が異なる可能性がある。
(2) イソシアニド配位Fe-Ni錯体の合成
かさ高いチオラート配位子を持つFe-Ni二核モデル錯体は、低温で一気圧のH2と反応することが分かったが、生成物の単離および同定には至っていない。その最大の理由は、錯体の熱的安定性にある。一連の二核モデル錯体は、Feに配位したCOを容易に失って分解するため、COを比較的解離しにくい配位子で置換し、モデル錯体の熱的安定性向上を目指した。前駆体となるFe-Ni-Ni-Fe錯体に対し、2当量のCNtBuを反応させたところ、少量ながらCNtBuを二つ持つ二核錯体が得られた。得られたFe-Ni錯体にかさ高いチオラート配位子を導入することで、熱的安定性を付与しつつH2の活性化が可能になると期待される。
