Outline of Annual Research Achievements

神経細胞ネットワークは外部刺激がなくても活動レベルが自発的に変動することが知られている.このメカニズムを理解する目的で,自己励起システム(self-exciting system)あるいはHawkes processと呼ばれる数理モデルを解析し,系の内部結合が大きいと外部入力のない条件でも系が揺らぎを示すことを明らかにし,そのためのネットワーク結合の条件を求めた(Onaga and Shinomoto, 2014).
神経発火は情報をコードしているが,それは発火の頻度か発火のタイミングかという議論がこれまで繰り広げられてきたが,二つの概念が排他的ではないために明瞭な結論が得られなかったという歴史がある.我々はその概念を発火頻度というアナログ情報と,活性・不活性というデジタル情報という概念に改めたうえで,与えられた発火時系列に対してそれを一意的に選択する問題として定義し,具体的な判定方法を提案した.その方法を,モデルを用いて検証したのち,in vivo発火時系列に対して適用し,デジタルおよびアナログとして判断できる実例を示した(Mochizuki and Shinomoto, 2014).
