Outline of Annual Research Achievements

次世代シーケンサーを用いたmRNA-seq解析により、フィトクロムが転写制御に加え、それとほぼ同じ規模で、シロイヌナズナゲノムの6.9%にも及ぶ遺伝子に対して選択的スプライシング制御を行うことを明らかにした。さらに、光シグナル伝達のネガティブレギュレーターであるSPA3について、その選択的スプライシングパターンがフィトクロムシグナル依存的に変化し、そのことが生理学的に光形態形成の促進に寄与することを実証した。以上の結果から、フィトクロムが、遺伝子発現の異なるステップである転写と選択的スプライシングを、直接かつ同時に制御することで、植物の光応答を引き起こすことを実証し、植物の光情報利用における新奇機構を世界に先駆けて発見した。
