Outline of Research at the Start

他の細胞内寄生・共生細菌へも応用可能な宿主細胞内でボルバキア遺伝子を破壊する技術を開発する。当技術を用い、申請者が同定したボルバキア遺伝子を破壊することにより、ボルバキアによる宿主妊性増強とRNAウイルス抵抗性付与機構の解明を行う。また、リケッチア等での技術を応用したボルバキアへ外来遺伝子を導入する技術を開発し、感染症を媒介しない蚊系統樹立のための新規ボルバキア系統を作出する。細胞内共生細菌におけるゲノム操作技術の開発と応用により、共生系の進化や多様性に関する新たな知見が得られ、革新的な昆虫制御技術の基盤が構築される。
