Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本提案研究では、地球上に豊富に存在する金属酸化物から構成される単結晶ナノワイヤの表面・界面に関するナノ構造情報を“情報科学のメス”を介して初めて抽出し、材料設計へと展開することにより新しい電子伝導機能を実証することを目的とする。金属酸化物から構成される単結晶ナノワイヤは、粒界を介することなく外部と電気的に接続可能なその特徴的なナノ空間構造や外界との反応場としての巨大な比表面積を有し、且つ水や大気との相性が本質的に良いことから、エネルギー変換等の様々な応用展開が期待されている。しかし、表面・界面におけるナノ構造情報に関する理解が乏しいために、酸化物ナノワイヤを材料設計することは未だ困難な状況にある。本研究では、この本質的な問題を本新学術領域内でナノワイヤ表面・界面のナノ構造情報を情報科学のメスを介して理解・制御することにより克服し、単結晶酸化物ナノワイヤの新しい酸化還元反応界面と電子伝導機能を創出する。本課題では、申請者がこれまでに構築した単結晶ナノワイヤ形成法とin-situヘテロ界面形成法を拡張し、本学術領域内で情報科学のメスを介してナノワイヤの表面・界面に関するナノ構造情報を抽出・制御することを狙いとしている。単結晶酸化物ナノワイヤの電子輸送特性(移動度)を向上させるヘテロ界面の設計指針を、高分解能表面・界面分析手法と申請者独自の単一ナノワイヤ輸送特性評価技術を駆使して構築する。本課題では、絶縁体の単結晶酸化物ナノワイヤ上に酸素-金属イオン間の凝集力が異なる酸化物材料群をシェル層として形成することにより、ヘテロ界面における酸化還元反応を介した全く新しいナノワイヤ界面伝導層を設計・創出する。絶縁体コア/絶縁体シェルで構成される単結晶ナノワイヤのヘテロ界面に新しい界面伝導層を創出する新しい材料設計指針を本学術領域内の実験班・情報科学班と共に構築する。
