Outline of Annual Research Achievements

唾液腺発生過程における周囲環境をハイドロゲルを元に作製したり、In vitroで機能する人工三次元組織の構築方法を創成したり、といった種々の生体組織成長制御モデルシステムを構築、利用することで、これまで知られていなかった新しい生命科学現象の発見に至った。
具体的には、マクロファージではなく、マクロファージコロニー刺激因子(MCSF)そのものが唾液腺成長に重要であるといった事実であったり、フィブロネクチン(FN)が唾液腺形態変化、特に管腔形成に重要であるなどの知見である。
また、骨組織が形成される過程の詳細検討を通し、有機基質、無機質、細胞といったそれぞれの要素における成熟度合いについて、数値化し評価するための指標づくりを行った。
