Outline of Annual Research Achievements

二次の非線形光学現象である和周波発生(SFG)は，空間反転対称性が破れた強誘電体に対して光学活性である．赤外・可視レーザー光を同軸配置で入射する光学系を新たに構築し，ヘテロダインSFG分光法の感度を従来に比べ一桁以上向上することに成功した．これにより，Pt(111)表面上に成長した強誘電結晶氷・アモルファス氷(ASW)について1分子層オーダーの超薄膜に対して高感度に強誘電分極の大きさと向きを決定することが可能になった．多層氷形成時に表面第一層氷の強誘電分極が伝播していく過程のin-situ計測に成功した．
星間分子雲に近い状況を想定し，強誘電ASWの形成実験と強誘電氷中での水素結合分子間のH/D交換反応実験を行った．具体的には，CO分子層でPt(111)表面を完全に被覆した基板，及び非晶質酸化物(Ta2O5)基板に成長したASWの強誘電性を評価した．CO分子上でH2O-ASWはnet-H-downの強誘電性を示し，非晶質酸化物上ではnet-H-dupの強誘電性を示すことを明らかにした．これらの実験結果は，COリッチな分子雲環境下の非晶質酸化物鉱物上でASWが強誘電状態にあることを示唆するものである[3]．一方，分子進化の反応場であるASW中ではCH3OHやNH3，アミノ酸のカルボニル基等は水分子と水素結合している．そこで，H2O-D2Oをモデル系として氷の強誘電性と水素結合分子間のH/D交換反応レートの相関を調べたところ，常誘電氷よりも強誘電氷の方がH/D交換速度が約3桁増大している事が明らかになった．
以上の研究成果により，これまで実験による検証が困難であった“星間ASWの強誘電性”が星間分子雲実験の重要な実験パラメータであることを立証することができた．
