Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Mg 基 3 元系合金 LPSO 相の熱力学的安定性を,第一原理計算に基づいて明らかにする.その際, 合金の原子配置や積層の自由度を定量的に考慮し,微視的な観点からの考察を行う.研究初年度においては,LPSO 相は同組成の不規則相に対して熱力学的に安定であること,格子振動の効果は LPSO 相の熱力学的安定性に対して定性的に無視できること,積層欠陥を導入した不規則相の熱力学的 安定性や原子配置の短範囲の規則化の傾向と LPSO 構造の形成の間に密接な関連が示唆されること,などを明らかにし,不規則相に基づく熱力学的安定性の議論の重要性が示唆された.これをふまえ,第二年度は,原子配置の短範囲の規則化を陽に考慮した不規則相の構造とその温度 依存性,およびその積層依存性を様々な構成元素に対して第一原理計算から系統的に定量評価し, LPSO 構造や L12 クラスター形成の可否との関連性について吟味した.その結果,Mg-RE-Zn 合金において,不規則相の最稠密面内の短範囲の規則化,特に最近接の RE-Zn ペアと LPSO 構造形成の可否に密接な関連が示唆されることを種々の希土類元素に対して系統的に確認 した.さらに,LPSO 構造において,積層欠陥近傍への溶質原子 Y , Zn の濃化と L12 クラスター形成が,不規則相の積層欠陥導入に伴う原子配置の短範囲の規則化の変化の観点から説明可能である,という結論を得た.
