Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本新学術領域「統合的神経機能の制御を標的とした糖鎖の作動原理解明」の研究目標は、神経機能を制御する「糖鎖機能ドメイン」から受容体、下流の分子動態、統合的な神経機能に至る制御機能の解明である。そして、糖鎖研究と神経研究の融合・連携により、「神経糖鎖生物学」という新たな学問領域の創生を目指すことを大目的としてH23に発足した。中間報告においても有機的な連携が進められているとの高評価を受けた。期間終了に際して、「新しい学術の創生」の成否を自己点検する客観的な情報として、1.融合研究進展の状況、2.国際化の推進、3.若手研究者育成の評価、4.アウトリーチ活動を主要注目点とし、これまでの活動に関する情報を、収集、整理、分析し、これらの結果を総括することが本研究の目的であった。結論として、「新学術領域『神経糖鎖生物学』最終シンポジウム」の開催ならびに前期・後期両方の公募班メンバーと計画班メンバーとの連絡網によって、十分な情報の収集ができ、本新学術領域の総括ができた。
融合研究進展の状況調査及びアウトリーチ活動担当の北川を研究分担者とし、融合研究進展の状況調査担当の岡、国際化の推進担当の柚崎、小松、高宮、若手研究者の育成担当の戸島、古川、吉田を連携研究者に置き、まず、事後1年を含めた研究活動や成果は別途報告書としてまとめるために各班員から収集した。その結果、研究成果の進捗を確認した。情報収集とアウトリーチのために「新学術領域『神経糖鎖生物学』最終シンポジウム」を平成29年3月3日~4日に名古屋で開催した。ここには、計画班、前期・後期の公募班、評価者、班友が一堂に会し、さらに一般公開とし一般の研究者も参加した。特に若手研究者の発言が従前の通り多く活発な議論があり、参加者のほとんどがこれまでの研究総括をポスターで行い、議論を交わした。新ジウムの終了後も若手を中心に深夜まで活発な交流が続いた
