Compiling the Research Achievements
Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas (Research in a proposed research area)
本領域は、触媒、デバイス材料、タンパク質分子等の機能物質において、機能発現を担う特定の原子が、どのように周辺原子と三次元的に協調して機能発現しているのかを探究し、新たな学理「局所機能構造科学」と新規デバイス創出の道筋を切り拓いた。本研究においては、国際シンポジウムの開催、JJAP特集号の出版などによって国内外の研究者に広く学理を発信し、最終成果報告書の作成、ニュースレター最終号の出版、領域ウェブサイトの継続による活性サイト原子構造データベースおよび関連ニュースの発信によって、国民・一般に向けた領域研究成果の取りまとめの広報・アウトリーチ活動を行う。
本領域は幅広い物質群における機能を司る「活性サイト」の詳細な3次元原子配列構造を解明し、その機能メカニズムの解明と新たな学理、新たな材料の創成を目的として、2015年から2019年までの5年間精力的に活動を進めた。その結果、無機材料からタンパク質の活性中心までの多くの成果を上げ、日本語と英語の教科書も出版し、新材料創成への指標も得て、2019年3月に終了した。2019年度は、このプロジェクトが終了した次の年の成果発表の年であった。プロジェクト終了後もこれまでの成果が引き続き多くの論文発表(計131件/うち国際共著論文 50件/オープンアクセス 40件)、講演発表(計150件(/うち招待講演 83件/国際学会 94件)、図書の出版4件として公開された。共同研究も引き続き活発に行われ、プロジェクト終了後も領域が順調に発展していることが示された。領域の成果の国際発表会として国際会議での領域シンポジウムを行った。日本では初めての物質関係の総合的な国際会議Materials Research Meeting 2019(December 11-12, 2019、横浜)が開催される機会に、海外から本テーマに関連した著名な研究者を6名招待して、領域メンバーの発表と合わせて2日間にわたって領域シンポジウムを開催した。この会議は米国のMRSの開催方式に倣い、32のシンポジウムから構成されたが、我々の新学術のシンポジウムは、その筆頭のシンポジウムSymposium A-1であった。ドイツからMuntwiler博士、Westphal教授、Morgenstern教授、Forster博士、オーストリアからParkinson教授、フランスからLe Lay教授が招待講演を行い、領域メンバーの口頭発表やポスター発表には多くの質疑応答が行われ、5年間の成果を国際的に発信することができた。
