Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究支援は、クロマチン動構造の国際共同研究ネットワークを形成し、世界的な視野を持ってクロマチン研究を遂行すること目的とし、1)領域関係者の海外派遣と共同研究、2)国際的な技術指導、3)領域内の若手研究者の海外派遣、そして4)海外からの共同研究者の招聘、を中心に支援を展開した。
本年度は、Helmholtz Zentrum Munchen (HMGU)の研究者と共同で、ミュンヘンにてHMGU-Japan Epigenetics and Chromatin Symposiumを開催し、最新の情報交換と研究発表、及び共同研究の打ち合わせを行った。本シンポジウムには胡桃坂、木村、山縣、原田、小布施、斉藤、河野、宮本、佐渡を派遣するとともに、領域内の若手研究者13名を派遣した。また近年、細胞核の構造・ダイナミクスを包括的な理解を目指す「ヌクレオーム」研究が国際的な潮流となってきた。本領域からも、ポーランドにて開催されたヌクレオーム研究の国際会議 "The Cell Nucleus in Space and Time"に、木村、斉藤、田代が参加し、研究成果の発表および情報収集を行った。さらに、技術指導の実施のために、Chicago大学のTurkewitz教授、Sparvoli氏を原口研究室に招いて実験を行い、この共同研究の成果は2報の学術論文として発表した。加えて、コールドスプリングハーバー研究所および、ケンブリッジ大学にそれぞれ1名の若手研究者を派遣し、研究技術を習得させた。
このほかの支援も含めて、1)領域関係者の国際学会参加もしくは国際共同研究打ち合わせ計14件、2)海外研究者の日本での技術指導実験 計4件、3)若手研究者の海外派遣 計19件、4)国際共同研究者の招聘 計5件を支援した。本支援によって構築された国際共同研究の多くは現在も継続中であり、今後さらに研究成果が期待できる。
