Research Abstract

「海底下の大河」計画の最終年度として、インド洋調査航海と研究成果のとりまとめを行った。調査船運航機関の都合で、インド洋航海のデータ(観測用機器)回収が平成25年4月となったことに伴い、計画の平成25年度への繰り越しを行い、調査機器の回収とデータのとりまとめを実施した。これらの成果も含め、計画全体の成果は、日本地球惑星科学連合(2012年5月開催)および米国地球惑星物理学連合(AGU)秋季大会(2012年12月サンフランシスコにて開催)で特別セッションを開催し、発表した。さらに、総括班では、計画全体の成果を広く世界に公表するため、科学論文出版の新たな形態であるオープンアクセスのe-Book(オンライン書籍)をSpringer社より出版することとした。Ishibashi, Okino, and Sunamura eds.(2014)“Subseafloor Biosphere Linked to Hydrothermal Systems”(700p)である。本e-book出版にむけた打ち合わせのため、2013年8月に主要著者候補による泊まり込みでの打ち合わせを東京晴海で開催し、AGUにて発表を行った中から50編の論文分を選定した。e-Bookの編集補助のために事務補助員を雇用し作業を続けた結果、平成26年1月末にその成果をとりまとめることができた。
