Research Abstract

細胞内の多くのオルガネラや細胞膜を膜ダイナミクスによって結ぶ物流ネットワーク・メンブレントラフィックの実態は、単なる物質運搬ではなく、経済用語のロジスティクス、すなわち「原材料の調達から製品消費までのものの流れの総合的なマネジメント」により近い。この細胞内ロジスティクスは個々の細胞の生存のみならず神経、内分泌、免疫などの高次生体システムをも担い、その障害や破綻は疾患の原因となる。本領域ではその根底にある分子基盤の解明による病態の理解を目指し、分子細胞生物学的なアプローチと共に情報科学・工学及びケミカルバイオロジーとの融合研究を展開する。本研究(総括班)は、融合研究である本領域が適確に推進され、大きな成果を挙げられるような体制を整える役割を担う。今年度は以下の活動を行った。
平成21年11月9日~12日に第1回全体班会議を開催し、計画研究と公募研究の研究代表者とその研究室メンバー、評価委員、学術調査官及び班外からの参加者総勢117名が、4日間に亘り口演とポスター発表を行い活発な討論が行われた。同時に開催した第3回総括班会議で、現状の総括と今後の方針を話し合った。ケミカルバイオロジーと画像処理の2つの融合研究について、それぞれの担当計画班と他の班員の連携により着実な進捗があった。領域HPには班員の大きな成果をいち早く掲載し、また領域の活動などを紹介するニュースレターを全国の関連研究者に送付した。
