Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究領域の目的は、原子物理・量子光学の発展を、宇宙・素粒子物理学に融合させ、新たな基礎物理学を創出することにある。具体的には下記の３つの計画研究を遂行してきた。即ち、計画Aでは世界で初めて原子からのニュートリノ対放射を観測することを目指し、その根幹となる新しい原理「マクロコヒーランス増幅機構」の実験的検証を行った。計画Bでは、クォークと電子の永久電気双極子能率(EDM)を世界最高感度で 測定するため、各々ユニークな方法を用いて実行に移した。また計画Cでは最新トラップ技術を駆使し、微細構造定数の時間変化を測定することを目指した。
これらの目的に沿い、総括班は各研究計画及び公募研究が当初計画した成果を挙げる様に全力を挙げて支援してきた。具体的には、総括班会議を定期的に開催し（５回開催)、各計画研究の進行状況を監督、必要に応じて評価・助言を行った。また、専門部会を開催し、理論・技術面から領域全体の方向づけを図った。更に学会及び社会からの要望を受取り、また逆に成果の発信を行った。国内外の学会やワークショップに積極的に参加するほか、総括班が主催し国際シンポジウム(FPUA)を開催した。
