Outline of Annual Research Achievements

潮汐振動などに起因する海洋鉛直混合の長期変動が、直接・間接的に水産資源変動に影響を与えている可能性がある。本研究では、強い潮汐混合が存在する海域を利用する魚種として、スケトウダラ(千島列島周辺)、マサバ(伊豆諸島周辺)、マアジ(南西諸島周辺)に注目し、耳石日輪解析による成長変動の復元と、耳石日輪の高解像度酸素安定同位体比分析による仔稚魚の環境履歴復元を試みた。これらの結果と、海洋生態系モデル、魚類回遊-成長モデルなどを組み合わせ、海洋長期変動が水産資源変動に与える影響を考察した。
マサバについては、耳石酸素安定同位体比の連続分析データを用いて経験水温履歴データを作成し、経験水温を応答変数、体長を説明変数、年をランダム効果とする一般化加法モデルにより、体長成長に伴う経験水温の変化を推定した。その結果、稚魚から幼魚に成長する間、経験水温は約22度から18度へと低下し、成長とともに低水温域に移動することが確認できた。また、孵化後30日間の成長履歴から、高成長群と低成長群に分類し、経験水温を比較した結果、高成長群で経験水温は低い傾向にあり、統計的に有意ではないが、growth positive spiral仮説と同じ傾向を示した。
マアジに関しては、長崎近海で採取されたマアジ未成魚が1960~1970年代に小型且つ4月生まれであったのに対し、2000~2010年代は大型且つ3月生まれであったが、両者で経験水温は変化していないことが示され、水温変動に対し、産卵時期を変化させて応答していることが示唆された。
スケトウダラについては、数値モデルを用いた実験から、潮汐混合によってオホーツク海からリン酸塩と鉄の供給が強化され、餌料生産が高まり、北海道沿岸域にスケトウダラ稚魚の生残しやすい環境を整えていることが示された。
