Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、複合アニオン化合物に特化した新合成法の開発、酸窒化物・酸水素化物・層状化合物など様々な物質系での新物質探索、計算科学の活用により、革新的新機能材料の開発を行った。
新物質合成:高圧合成、トポケミカル反応、ソルボサーマル反応など各種合成手法を駆使した系統的・徹底的な物質探索により、約30個の新規複合アニオン化合物の合成に成功した。高圧合成による新規極性酸窒化物の合成、構造特異性に由来する発光及び熱電特性など、様々な物質・機能性を見出している。ナノ粒子など高活性前駆体を用いることで、複合アニオン化合物の生成が促進されることも明らかとなった。
新合成法開発:最も重要な成果の一つが酸窒化物の新合成法の開発である。従来酸窒化物の合成はアンモニア雰囲気下での高温合成が主流で、毒性があるほか、高い還元性により、窒素量・配位状態を制御した精密合成が困難で、酸窒化物の機能性開拓の大きな障害となっていた。そこで窒素源として窒化炭素C3N4などの固体窒素源を用いることを着想した結果、アンモニアガスが不要、かつ従来より低温・短時間で酸窒化物の大量合成が可能となった。化合物の生成過程を解析することで、活性な中間体の形成が反応に決定的に重要であることも明らかとなった。窒素組成と配位状態の精密制御が可能となっただけでなく、大量合成への道が拓けたことで、応用展開の加速が見込まれる。
計算科学の活用:班内留学などにより、理論研究者の補助のもと若手の合成研究者が計算科学を自ら使いこなすことで様々な成果が生まれた。複合アニオン化合物のバンド構造はアニオンの組合せで決まることが定説だったが、層状酸ハロゲン化物においてマーデルングエネルギーにより制御可能であることを示した。複合化によるバンドギャップ制御、光触媒特性と安定性の両立など、単一アニオンでは不可能な様々な機能の実現に繋がるものである。

本計画研究では、複合アニオン化合物合成及び計算科学の専門家を結集し、領域内連携も活用して新物質・新合成法開発、機能開拓を行うという方針に則り研究を行ってきた。研究実績概要に記載したように、今年度は様々な特徴を持つ新規複合アニオン化合物の開発、革新的な酸窒化物の新合成法の開発、計算科学による新たな複合アニオン化合物のバンド構造制御指針の確立に成功した。特に酸窒化物の新合成法開発では、固体窒素源を用いた新たなプロセスを開発することで、反応温度の低温化、組成の均質化及び窒素量・配位状態の制御性の向上など、従来の期待窒素源を使う手法と比較して様々な優れた特徴を有する。また酸ハロゲン化物のマーデルングエネルギーにバンド構造制御は、高いエネルギー準位を持つ酸素由来のバンドという単一アニオン化合物では不可能な電子構造を作りだし、複合アニオン化合物に特異的な機能の発現が期待される。これらの成果は、本計画研究の最終的目標である、「アニオン組成・配位の制御、複合アニオン物質設計を確立することによる新たな物質科学の開拓」に向け、着実な進展を遂げているものと評価している。以上の事実から、「複合アニオン化合の新物質開発」及び「複合アニオン化合物に特化した新手法の開発」という課題に対し、当初の想定以上に進展していると判断できる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

研究代表者の荻野の統括のもと、種々の合成技術、計算科学に関し豊富な経験を有する計画研究グループが、公募研究グループ、A02解析グループ、A03機能開拓グループと有機的に連携し研究を推進する。今後は非ペロブスカイト系や三種アニオン混合系などより複雑な系、および錯体、有機無機化合物など非従来型複合アニオン化合物への展開、計算科学をより積極的に活用した物質開発にも注力していく。各年度の研究計画は下記の通りである。
平成30年度:合成・計算の対象となる物質系をパイロクロア、スピネル、層状ペロブスカイトなどより複雑な化合物に拡げる。ポストペロブスカイト構造をもつ複合アニオン化合物や、アニオンの異なる圧縮率を利用した新層状化合物など、様々な観点から新物質探索を行う。また従来型の無機固体材料のみならず、酸水酸化物や錯体、有機無機化合物など新たな物質系に広げる。酸窒化物新規合成法を検証し、新物質合成とアニオンの精密制御を試みる。新手法は従来法と比較して温和な条件、かつアニオン組成の制御が容易であるなど多くの利点を持つことから、計算科学の助力も得て配位の制御など精密な物質合成を試みる。
平成31年度以降:物質探索を継続するほか、有機無機化合物など非従来型の複合アニオン化合物合成にも注力する。共有結合性構造ブロックとイオン結合性構造ブロックが積層した自然超格子など、性質の異なる複数のアニオン構造ブロックを組合せた特異的な高次構造体を創製する。酸窒化物以外の物質系についても新たな合成手法を探索する。アニオンの組成に加え、局所構造や秩序度の制御や複合アニオン化合物に特異的な構造を持つ化合物を合成することで、所望の電子構造を持った化合物を創出する。これらの研究により、最終的には結晶構造及び電子構造を制御した複合アニオン化合物をテーラーメイドで合成する手法を確立する。
