南極氷床モデリング:南極氷床モデルを用いた国際プロジェクトISMIP6国際比較の論文の執筆出版、さらに独自に延長した論文執筆執筆、およびより現実的な長期将来実験を行い、将来の氷床変動について不確実性も含めて検討した。長時間スケールの氷床変動再現実験のための接地線パラメタリゼーションを導入した氷床モデルを用いて、海洋温度や降水量など外的大気海洋条件に対する定常実験を行っていく。MIROC気候モデルによる古気候氷床実験を入力とした、氷床変動実験にも着手した。
南極氷床の質量収支解析:近年の東南極域における涵養量の増加について、気候モデルや再解析データ、内陸での雪尺観測データを用いて要因解析した論文を執筆開始した。涵養量の増加イベントが気候モデルではどの程度捉えられているか引き続き調べ、気候が変化した際の頻度変化を明らかにした。
南大洋モデリング:底層水班で得られた海洋データを基に、気候モデルでの南極底層水形成過程を向上させる。高解像度海洋モデルを用いてより現実的な退氷期実験を開始する。気候モデル実験を海洋モデルと組み合わせて、退氷期の南極棚氷底面融解、 海洋物質循環、 南極底層水への影響を調べた。
海洋・炭素循環・生態系に関して、南極生態系タスクチームにおける他班との連携しながら海洋モデルによる将来予測実験を解析していく。氷期のCO2のモデリングについて論文投稿し、氷期から退氷期の炭素循環に関する実験を実行した。
長期気候-氷床モデリング:大気海洋結合モデルMIROCの結果と南極氷床モデルを組み合わせた長期気候-氷床モデル実 験を実施する。気候モデルや高解像度海洋モデルから示される棚氷質量収支を入力として退氷期の南極氷床の再現を行ない出版した。南極氷床モデル結果を入力に固体地球モデルを動かし、観測と比較するなど氷床固体地球モデルに関する解析をさらに進め過去の氷床変動と固体地球変動のデータの解釈に着手した。
