| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research "Comparative Phenomenology of Face and Body Expression" was conducted as part of the planned research project in the new academic field of "Face-Body Studies n in Transcultural Situations: Faces and Body Expression connecting Multiple Cultures. We conducted an interdisciplinary study of faces and body expressions from the viewpoints of cultural difference, transculturality, and cross-cultural understanding, and provided the philosophical and theoretical foundations for establishing this as a new academic field. The project team took the lead in publishing "Handbook of Face Body Studies" (University of Tokyo Press) to systematize the theoretical foundation of "Face-Body Studies," and published an international journal called Philosophy and Cultural Embodiment. We created ethical standards for research on corporeality, and actively conducted outreach activities called "Face-Body Cafe".

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究は、顔身体学の基礎を担う理論的研究として新領域の構築に貢献し、領域全体の導入に役立つ『顔身体学ハンドブック』、超領域的な研究論文を掲載するための国際雑誌Philosophy and Cultural Embodimentを刊行した。また身体性についての研究倫理の基準と教育プログラムを作成した。その結果として、最終評価として本新領域はA+の評価を獲得した。本計画班は、哲学と倫理学においては、スポーツと対話場面に間身体的コミュニケーションを独自開発したアプリケーションを使ったデジタル人文学的研究、および、身体性をめぐる偏見や差別を現象学的に考察した研究を学会発表や書籍、論文として公開した。
