Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は,光合成集光メカニズムにおいて見出されてきた「電子系,振電系および振動系コヒーレンスが,実際の太陽光を用いた光合成反応および人工光合成における物質変換プロセスにおいて,どのような重要な意義を果たすのか?」という問いに対する解を求めることを目的としている。本年度は,以下の項目について取り組んだ。
1.サブ20フェムト秒NOPAの最適化を行い,最短 11 fs のパルス幅を有する光源開発に成功し,縮退4光波混合測定が行える測定系を整備した。また,NOPAの出力を利用し,紅色細菌由来のアンテナ系色素タンパク質複合体のポンプ・プローブ分光測定を行った。
2.フェムト秒~サブミリ秒の時間範囲で測定可能な時間分解拡散反射分光計測装置の開発を行った。本装置を用いて水分解光触媒反応の実時間計測を行った。
3.光合成光捕集アンテナ系色素タンパク質複合体の単離・精製,および種々のカロテノイドおよびB800バクテリオクロロフィルを同時に再構築した人工の光捕集アンテナ系の構築を行った。この試料のフェムト秒時間分解分光計測を行い,励起エネルギー移動ダイナミクスの解析を行った。
4.天然光合成では太陽光フォトンを吸収することで種々の動的過程が引き起こされるが,光子統計など太陽光の性質は実験で用いられるレーザー光のそれとは大きく異なる。太陽光を模倣する疑サーマル光源として「時間-周波数量子もつれ光子対」を用いた新規分光計測法について研究を進めた。時間-周波数量子もつれ光子対はパラメトリック下方変換(PDC)で生成されるが,光子対の一方を観測しない場合,他方の光子状態は熱放射と類似の量子状態・光子統計を示す。我々は,特に可視光領域では太陽光すなわち温度5777Kの黒体輻射の性質を再現し得ることを理論的に示した。さらに,そのようにして生成された擬似サーマル光を照射された分子系の励起状態ダイナミクスの理論を開発した。

Reason

本研究を遂行するための基盤となるフェムト秒レーザーシステムのフルリペア,および新規フェムト秒再生増幅レーザー装置(7 W クラス)の導入が完了した。サブ20フェムト秒NOPAと4光波混合測定系の構築ができた。また,NOPAの性能を最適化することにより,最短 11 fs のパルス幅を実現できた。試料調製に関しても,天然由来の光合成色素タンパク質複合体の調製に加え,種々のカロテノイド及びB800バクテリオクロロフィルを同時に再構築した人工の光合成色素タンパク質複合体の調製が可能となった。また,C班との共同研究を進めるために粉体光触媒試料に対して適用可能な,時間分解拡散分光計測装置の開発を行い,種々の半導体光触媒に対してその有用性を実証した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

新規に導入された,平均出力 7 W を有する最新の再生増幅レーザー装置と光パラメトリック増幅装置を用いて研究を一挙に加速する。極超短パルスレーザーの波形を正しく評価するために,導入済みの高速スキャンFROG装置を活用する。この装置を用いて,リアルタイムでサブ20フェムト秒パルスの波形計測を行いながら,空間光変調器を用いて能動的にパルス波形の改良を行い,サブ20フェムト秒NOPAの性能を完備する。この出力を用いて,縮退4光波混合(DFWM)測定が定常的に行えるように装置性能を改良する。この測定系に100フェムト秒ポンプ光を導入することにより,Pump-DFWM測定が行えるように測定系を改良する。この測定が可能となれば,2次元コヒーレント分光計測への応用展開が容易となる。また,理論サイドからは,量子もつれ光および擬似サーマル光を用いた時間分解制御の理論を発展させ,これまでに開発してきたコヒーレント光を用いた非線形分光理論および光合成エネルギー移動モデルとして多体量子系ダイナミクス理論を組み合わせることで,物質系と光子系のいずれをも量子力学的に取り扱う理論枠組みの確立を試みる。
