Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本計画研究は、「第1段階(2017-2018年度):はやぶさ2探査での観測データの取得準備、近傍観測」、「第2段階(2019-2020年度):微惑星・水惑星・氷衛星の水・物質循環に関する地球科学データの抽出」、「第3段階(2021年度):微惑星・水惑星・氷衛星の水・物質循環モデルの構築」からなる。本年度は、第3段階の最終年であり、水惑星天体から得られたデータのうち、特に小惑星リュウグウより帰還した試料の分析とその論文化に集中した。その結果、リュウグウ試料は、人類が手にした宇宙物質の中で最も始原的な物質であることが明らかになった(Yokoyama et al. 2022 Science)。また、リュウグウ母天体が水―岩石反応を被っていることや、多くの含水鉱物および2万種を超える多様な有機物を含むことが明らかとなった(Nakamura et al. 2022 Science; Yabuta et al. 2022 Science; Naraoka et al. 2022 Science)。これらの結果は、分担者が主著を務める論文を含め、40報以上の論文が査読付き国際誌に掲載された。我々の一連の研究成果から、リュウグウは太陽系元素存在度や同位体組成に関する新しい標準データを与えるとともに、太陽系形成や地球初期進化を論ずる上での物質科学的基盤となる可能性をもつことも示された。
このリュウグウ試料の研究は、他の計画班、特にB01分析班と密接に連携を取りながら進められた。また、融合研究として、将来の火星探査を見据えた予察的な研究も水惑星から生まれている(Kuramoto et al. 2022 EPS; Ogohara et al. 2022 EPS)。
