Research Abstract |
The hydration model of water-soluble polymers is refined to cope with multilayer hydration, cooperative and competitive hydration, effect of stereoregularity and copolymerization in relation to LCST phase separation, sol-gel transition and volume phase transition of gels. Effect of cononsolvency in mixed solvents was clarified. Shear thickening, strain hardening, stress overshoot, banding and fracture of the networks of PNIPAM chains were studied on the basis of the transient network theory and their molecular mechanisms were clarified.
