Research Abstract |
Selective solvation effects can strongly influence phase separation in polar binary mixtures with a small amount of ions or solutes. Such hydrophilic or hydrophobic particles are preferentially attracted to one of the solvent components. We study various kinds of phase separation including the selective solvation effects theoretically and experimentally. We also study dynamics of ionic liquids and glass transitions of thin polymer films experimentally.
