Outline of Annual Research Achievements

極めて高度なレベルに達している冷却原子系の制御技術のなかでも、特に、原子間の相互作用を磁場により任意かつ精密に実時間制御するフェッシュバッハ共鳴法により、様々な可能性が拓かれつつある。本研究では、冷却原子系として極めて大きな質量比を有するエルビウムとイッテルビウム、およびリチウムの超低温原子混合系を実験的に生成し、その特異な性質を実験的に解明することにより、クラスター階層の物理の理解を深化させることを目標とする。
この研究目的に向けて、まず、重いエルビウム原子と軽いリチウム原子、さらにイッテルビウム原子の超低温混合気体を用いた方式を確立した。その結果、極めてユニークな、磁性原子エルビウムと非磁性原子イッテルビウムのボース凝縮混合系を生成することに世界で始めて成功し、今後の様々な可能性を広げた。また、リチウムおよびエルビウム原子の超低温フェルミ・フェルミ混合系を実現し、その原子間のフェッシュバッハ共鳴を多数観測することに成功し、エフィモフ3体状態の生成を示唆する重要な結果を得ることができた。さらに、光格子中の原子の3体力についても、イッテルビウム原子の準安定状態と基底状態の間のフェッシュバッハ共鳴を用いた占有数分解超高分解能レーザー分光実験を遂行し、藤田・宮沢型とみなせる摂動領域から非摂動領域にわたる広範な相互作用領域で、3体力のエネルギーを実験的に決定することに成功し、それを閉じ込めポテンシャル中の3体系の理論計算で、相互作用が比較的弱い領域について定量的に説明することに成功するとともに、相互作用の強い領域で、実験結果をよく説明する外挿曲線を見出し、今後の理論計算のベンチマークとすることができた。
また、擬1次元に閉じ込められた弱く相互作用するボース気体において、熱伝導率が2体相互作用でなく有効的な3体相互作用によって決まることを示し、その温度依存性を定量的に評価した。
