Research Abstract

金属ナノ粒子の表面プラズモン共鳴(SPR)吸収を光励起すると、入射光よりも桁違いに増強された局在電場がナノ粒子表面近傍に生じる。この金属近傍の光増強電場が、半導体ナノ粒子の光化学特性に何らかの影響を及ぼすと考えられるが詳細は明らかではない。本研究では、高密度に固定化したAuナノ粒子薄膜上にテルル化カドミウム(CdTe)ナノ粒子を固定し、Au-CdTe粒子間距離がCdTeナノ粒子の発光特性に及ぼす影響を評価した。
石英基板表面に高密度で固定したAuナノ粒子薄膜上に、膜厚を精密制御したポリマー層を積層した後、CdTeナノ粒子を固定し、Au-CdTeナノ粒子複合薄膜を作製した。得られた薄膜は、波長670nmにCdTeナノ粒子に由来するバンドギャップ発光が観察されたが、その発光強度は用いたポリマー層の膜厚に依存して大きく変化した。ポリマー層の膜厚が小さいとき、複合薄膜中のCdTe粒子は、Au粒子のない石英基板上のCdTe粒子よりも弱い発光しか示さなかった。しかし、ポリマー層膜厚の増加とともに発光強度は増大し、Au-CdTe粒子間距離が40nm以上になると石基板上のCdTeよりも強く発光した。Au-CdTe複合膜の発光増強率の励起波長依存性を測定したところ、その形状はAu粒子膜のSPRピークとよく一致した。このことから、Au粒子膜近傍に生じる光電場によって、複合膜中のCdTe粒子の光励起確率が増加し、その発光が増強されることが示唆された。
以上のように、金属一半導体ナノ粒子間距離を精密に制御しながら、金属粒子表面に半導体ナノ粒子を固定することにより、半導体ナノ粒子の光励起確率を向上することができる。この金属一半導体ナノ構造体は、高効率な光エネルギー変換システムの構築のために有用な材料と期待される。
