Research Abstract

ヘキサアリールビスイミダゾール(HABI)は1960年に発見された純国産のラジカル解離型フォトクロミック化合物であり、特異な光発色機能は、当時、世界的に注目され多くの研究が行われた。淡黄色のHABIは溶液・結晶の何れの状態においても紫外光照射により、二つのイミダゾール環を結ぶC-N結合が均等開裂し、発色体である赤紫色のトリフェニルイミダゾリルラジカル(TPIR)を生成するフォトクロミズムを示す。本研究では、従来のHABI誘導体を凌駕する熱消色反応速度を有する実用的な高速フォトクロミック分子の創出を目指す。すなわち、光照射時にのみ高効率で発色し、光遮断により数十ミリ秒程度の時間領域で消色反応が終了する系を開発することで、高速発消色調光レンズや、実時間ホログラフィー、光情報表示デバイスなどのように高速消色反応が活躍する応用領域を開拓する。
