Research Abstract

カゴメ物質であるvolborthiteの良質試料の作製に成功し、磁化・NMR測定を行い、スピン液体的な基底状態とともに特異な磁化過程を見いだした。またβ-パイロクロア酸化物のラットリング誘起の超伝導や、β-CsW_2O_6の金属一絶縁体転移を調べた。さらにラットリング転移の理論的研究を行い、対称性の変化を伴わない波動関数の広がりの1次転移モデルを提唱して相図を求めた。2次元三角格子系NiGa_2S_4に対して、磁性及び非磁性不純物の比熱に及ぼす影響を調べ、整数スピンに特有な量子効果の知見を得た。また、Z_2渦形成の見地からμSRとESRの測定を行い、新しい磁気相転移の可能性を明らかにした。
強相関電子金属Mo_3Sb_7の50K付近の構造相転移を調べ、Mo副格子のユニークなフラストレーション機構を提唱した。また、磁性金属GaNb_4S_8が4スピンクラスターの対形成によるシングレットが実現する前例のない物質であることを明らかにした。電荷フラストレーション効果を調べるためにパイロクロア型ニオブ酸化物Nd_<1+x>Ca_<1-x>Nb_2O_7の単結晶を育成し、スピン・軌道自由度に由来する大きなゼーベック効果を発見した。また層状三角格子系Yb_<1-x>Ca_xFe_2O_4のドーピングに対する強誘電性とフェリ磁性の安定性を研究した。
重い電子的振舞を示すLiv_2O_4に関しては, 軌道とスピンの自由度を取り入れた低エネルギーの有効モデルを実空間繰り込み群の手法を用いて求めることに成功し、両自由度の量子エンタングルメントの重要性を指摘した。また、局在スピン系のスピン流のホール効果の理論を研究して、カイラリティ由来のBerry位相がスピン波の伝導に対してもホール効果を生み出すことを示すとともに、実際に微視的なフラストレート磁性体のモデルを提示した。
