Research Abstract |
"Chirality" represents the handedness of the local noncollinear structure of the ordered state, either "right" or "left", playing an important role in frustrated systems characterized by competing interactions. The present project is devoted to exploring a variety of chirality-induced new phenomena. Target materials include geometrically frustrated magnets, spin-glass magnets, superconducting ceramics and multiferroic materials. We found a novel "chiral-glass" state in spin-glass magnets and ceramic superconductors, and obtained insights into the "spin-chirality decoupling" phenomena.
