Research Abstract |
We had aimed at the development of the novel material which has a geometrical frustration and a complex entanglement of degrees of freedom, and the discovery of the new function those novel materials have. As a result, we found out new materials, such as Na_4Ir_3O_8 which forms hyper-Kagome structure, honeycomb compound Bi_3Mn_4O_12(NO_3), and perovskite compound Sr_2IrO_4 , and clarified the details of those physical properties both experimentally and theoretically. Moreover, we found out novel perovskite compound Bi_<1-x>La_x NiO_3 which shows about 3 times as large negative thermal expansion as the existing materials.
