Research Abstract

本年は透過型電子顕微鏡を用いた機能元素近傍における超構造の原子構造解析法を先鋭化し,材料機能発現メカニズムの解明を目指した研究を行った.
まず,複数の方位から原子分解能観察することにより機能元素の3次元配列を完全決定する新たな手法を開発した.同手法をアルミナ粒界に偏析した機能元素に適用し,機能元素の三次元原子配列を定量的に解明することに成功した(Nature Mater. 2009).さらに,A02班,A03班と連携して金/チタニア触媒界面の原子・電子構造を解析し,触媒機能が発現するメカニズムを解明した(Phys.Rev.Lett. 2009).またA03班およびA02班間で研究者短期滞在プログラムを実施することにより効率的な連携を実施し,強磁性半導体薄膜における磁性発現メカニズムを明らかにすることにも成功した.(Phys.Rev.B 2009).
また,LaNi_5水素吸蔵合金の構造欠陥周辺の高分解能ひずみ計測を行い,水素吸放出過程においてNi poorな欠陥が形成されることを原子分解能で明らかにした.
さらに,電極/基板界面における高分解能STEM/EELS計測と第一原理計算を行い,同界面において単一炭素層が形成し,この電極界面超構造が電流輸送特性を大幅に改善させる主要因であることを見出した.(Adv.Mater 2009)
