Research Abstract

有性生殖を行う多細胞生物にあっては、卵細胞は精子が侵入することによって胚発生を開始する。こうした受精による胚発生の開始は、S期の開始とその後のM期への移行に続く細胞周期の進行、およびそれらと並行しておこる雌雄両前核の融合--総じて、初期胚細胞周期の開始--として見られる。この受精による初期胚細胞周期開始の分子機構については、細胞周期制御の基本原理が確立したにもかかわらず、依然として不明である。この生物学上の古典的命題に対して解答を見出すことが、本研究計画の目的である。一方、受精しない場合は卵細胞は細胞死に至る。この経路もあわせて究明し、受精による卵細胞の起死回生の全容を判明させて、胚発生の開始機構を解明する突破口としたい。
